A relentless climb to the 1848 stone tower of Skålatårnet at 1,848 m.
The trailhead is near Loen in Nordfjord, Vestland, about 76 km from Ålesund. The walk is 18 km with 1800 m of ascent and takes 8 to 11 hrs, and the usual season is late June to September. The trailhead sits on the Lodalen & Kjenndalen scenic route itself.
Why it's loved. Norway's highest peak with its foot in the sea and a tower hut to overnight in.
Season: late June to September
