The trailhead is near Urke in Sunnmøre Alps, Møre og Romsdal, about 31 km from Ålesund. The walk is 6 km with 1000 m of ascent and takes 4 to 6 hrs, and the usual season is June to September. The trailhead sits on the Hjørundfjorden scenic route itself.
