Hand-built in the 1880s and now bypassed by tunnels, this gravel-and-tarmac lane crosses the Strynefjell between Grotli and Videseter with its original stone parapets intact. It runs past meltwater lakes the colour of milk and the side road up to the summer-skiing glacier at Tystigen. The narrowness is the point, it is a slow, historic drive, not a through-route and it rewards patience over pace.
